Abstract

The Indian Knowledge System (IKS) is a methodical and organized approach to conveying knowledge from one generation to the next. It distinguishes itself as a process of knowledge transfer rather than merely a tradition. Rooted in the Vedic literature, the Upanishads, Vedas, and Up Veddas, the IKS serves as a foundational principle recognized by the National Education Policy (NEP-2020). Information Technology is about using technology to create, store, transmit, and manipulate data. In current perspectives, without the use of IT, we cannot imagine the globe around us. IT helps us to store, retrieve, process, communicate, analyze, share, and provide security to our information. This paper develops the conceptual framework of a blend of IT and IKS. The objective of this research is to showcase how Information Technology helps in preserving and promoting the Indian Knowledge System in today’s technical era. This paper focuses on the spectrum, challenges faced by the Indian Knowledge System, and how IT applications help IKS to overcome these challenges. The concludes that IT provides the tools to unlock the potential of IKS, while IKS offers a wealth of knowledge and wisdom that can be used to inform and improve various aspects of IT and society as a whole.
