Abstract

Reviews Cutter's rules for corporate name entry. Distinguishes the varieties of corporate bodies into government bodies, societies, institutions, committees and conferences. The rules for entry in Cutter's catalogue code in each case has been explained. Impact of Cutter' s rule on later catalogue codes has been indicated. Concludes that Cutter's rules formed the basis for American library cataloguing and evolved a standard practice for corporate entry.
