The continued rise in the price of the journals has been a major obstacle to the acquisition in the libraries and information centres especially in the universities. An increase by about 405 percent was observed in the prices of foreign journals with in a period of eleven years. The average price also doubled within a period of six years. The average price increase of about 16 percent per year was observed.
