Abstract

Finance is the life blood of business. So, it becomes necessary for micro entrepreneurs to approach to financial institutions when need arises. Researcher made efforts to know the behaviour of financial institutions in granting financial assistance to micro entrepreneurs. The borrowers of micro enterprises face many problems and difficulties from institutional sources with their complicated and lengthy procedures. So it is necessary to assess the problems and constrainsts of micro entrepreneurs in availing financial assistance from public sector banks in Tirunelveli District. The main objectives of the study are to know the problems encountered by the micro entrepreneurs while availing the financial assistance from the public sector banks and analyse the impact of problems encountered by micro entrepreneurs in availing financial assistance from the public sector banks on the perception towards the services rendered by public sector banks. In this type of research can be analyzed quantitatively as well as qualitatively. This study is descriptive in nature and is based on the primary and secondary data. The study was mainly based on primary data collected through a structured questionnaire. The secondary data were collected from Manuals, records, publications, periodicals, reports and so on. For survey of the micro entrepreneurs the responses had recorded by giving the questionnaires to them and provide them all the information about the purpose so that they can give true information. In the study, it has been found that micro enterprises are considered as the backbone of the economy, and that is the reason, responsibility of banks increases. This is the right time when banks have to view themselves not just as providers of credit but as partners in the growth of these enterprises, especially for first generation entrepreneurs.
