The concept of social engineering has been gaining importance in the modern business environment as almost fifty percent age of the Indians are techno kids, who are of age less than twenty five years. Recent research initiatives report an accelerated use and adoption of social engineering mode of communication among individuals and organizations. Social engineering activities have posed numerous challenges to enterprises especially to those operating in the financial services industry. Attacks on the privacy and security of information not only expose the inherent vulnerabilities of the organizational systems, but it adversely affects the goodwill and reputation of the enterprise. Therefore, theresearch paper examines the social engineering information security related threats faced by the banking organizations in India.
