Emotional intelligence has been found having a profound impact on various organizational outcome variables. Emotional intelligence is a way of recognizing, understanding, and choosing how we think, feel, and act. It shapes our interactions with others and our understanding of ourselves. Thus understanding of Emotional Intelligence (EI) in employees is emphasized because human relations in organizations are influenced by emotional factor over rational factors. The purpose of the study is to examine the four components (Emotional Awareness, Emotional Management, Social Emotional Awareness, Relationship Management) of Daniel Goleman Emotional Intelligence model, to find the relationship between the components of emotional intelligence and to measure how emotional intelligence vary with demographic variables. The survey method is used for data collection. The question naire was distributed to IT employees. Emotional intelligence was identified as the dependent variable and gender, age, marital status, level, experience was regarded as the independent variable. Data was statistically analyzed by using SPSS, a sample of 112 employees were analyzed who are working in IT companies from Twin Cities of Telangana state. The result of the study reveals that the level of emotional intelligence differ in gender, age, level and experience while the level of emotional intelligence does not diverge with marital status.
