This study considers the relation between self-directed learning skills and the students’ performance in English course. This study is descriptive- survey research. The statistical society contains students in Arak state university and Ashtiyan Islamic Azad University who had selected general English course in the first semester in academic year 2013–2014. The sample includes 300 students obtained according to Jersey-Morgan table out of statistical society. Instruments used for obtaining data contain: a. self-directed learning readiness scale and b. researcher-mad English test. To analysis the data, Pearson correlation coefficient and Liner Regression were used. The investigation results show that there is a significant relation between self-directed learning skills and its’ subscales (self-management, self-control, and desire to learning) with English language performance.
