Design and Technology of Stone Works in Eastern Entrance of The Grand Mosque in Yazd

Abstract

In the eastern and opposite part of the entrance of the Yazd's grand mosque, two marble columns have been installed on which the array and design of the plants and animals were carved delicately and beautifully. Despite the extensive researches that have been done on the effect and decorations of Yazd grand mosque, the real identity and content of this work is still vague and unknown. The methodology of this study, is descriptive that determined the existence status of the mentioned work. For gathering information, library method was used. In this study by applying the Islamic historical evidence, at first the introduction and then the technical investigation of construction and decoration of mentioned work has been conducted, all of these tasks were done to keep the real value, repair and introduce this work to people.
