Assessment of Genotype x Environment Interactions and Stability Analysis in Soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merrill]
Abstract
Genotype x environment interaction study in soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merrtll] was undertaken by growing forty genotypes in eight different environments during 2004 and 2005. The analysis of variance revealed highly significant differences due to genotypes, environments and genotype x environment (G x E) interactions for all the traits studied. Significant environment (linear) variances were observed for all the characters. G x E (linear) variances were highly significant for days to maturity and protein content. Soybean genotype MACS-47 had highest mean yield and average stability was found to be stable over the environments for seed yield. Genotype Pusa-37 in addition to having stability for early maturity also had highest protein content and average response to environments.
