Unscientific management of planting stock and lack of clean cultivation practices in tulip are the main reason for bulb dwindle and mixing of cultivars in Kashmir valley. Present study, conducted in the years 2007–08 and 2008–09, was aimed to investigate the influence of planted bulb weight (300, 350, 400 and 450 g/m2) in combination with bulb recovery net and apple leaf mulch on total bulb yield and differential yield of various bulb grades. Total bulb yield/m2 increased significantly with each increment in planted bulb weight. However, planted bulb weight of 400 g m−2 was optimum for maximum production of 6/8 and 4/6 cm grade bulbs. Significant improvement in bulb yield by use of bulb recovery net was a result of not only the increase in recovery of smaller bulbs but also the larger bulbs. A significant increase in the yield of < 4 cm and 4/6 cm grade bulb was recorded with application of apple leaf mulch.
