Cysticercus tenuicollis, a metacestode of dog tapeworm Taenia hydatigena, is one of the health concerns for small ruminants. A study was conducted to study the prevalence of T. hydatigena cysticercosis in sheep in Kashmir. A total of 1455 sheep slaughtered by local butchers in various districts of Kashmir were screened. Animals were categorized into 2 age groups viz., below 2 years and above 2 years, and location of the cyst noted. The overall prevalence observed was 24.6% (358/1455). Prevalence and the number of bladder worms recovered were higher in older animals. The most commonpre dilection site was mesentery (66.2%) followed by omentum (18.6%), liver (13.3%), rumen (0.7%), lung(0.5%) and peritoneum (0.5%).
