The present study was aimed to evaluate the effect of static magnetic field (SMF) therapy for treatment of induced radial fractures, on haematobiochemical indices in rabbits. Twenty four clinically healthy rabbits were divided into 4 equal groups. Mid shaft, transverse, complete fracture of radius was created using a gigli-wire. Two block shaped static magnets, each of 1000 gauss constant strength, were applied at the fracture site, one medially and other laterally for a period of 2, 4 and 6 hr/day for a duration of 8 weeks in rabbits of groups I, II and III, respectively. Group IV rabbits served as control. The haematological indices viz., total leukocyte counts and differential leukocyte counts, and biochemical indices viz., glucose, total protein, albumin and alkaline phosphatase contents of rabbits in treatment groups did not differ significantly from control rabbits. SMF application at the fracture site showed no adverse influence on hematological and biochemical parameters in rabbits.
