Juvenile growth of two genetically distinct breeds of chicken, Kadaknath (KN) and White Leghorn (WLH) that have different origin and have been subjected to different selection regimen was assessed in terms of body weights (BW) from 4 to 12 weeks of age. Significantly higher BW was recorded both in male and female chicks of WLH as compared to their KN counterparts at 4, 6. 8. 10 and 12 weeks of age. It was concluded that, there was profound differential genotype-effects on juvenile body weights.
