Haematobiochemical Profile in Goats Subjected to Laparoscopy Assisted Embryo Transfer under Lumbosacral Epidural Anaesthesia Using Lignocaine and Ropivacaine Hydrochloride

Abstract

Bakerwal and Pashmina goats (n=18) were subjected to laparoscopy assisted embryo transfer under lumbosacral epidural anaesthesia using lignocaine hydrochloride (4 mg/kg) or ropivacaine hydrochloride (1 mg/kg or 0.5 mg/kg) and designated as Group I, II and III, respectively. The various hematological (Hb, PCV, TEC, and TLC) and plasma biochemical (total protein, alkaline phosphatase and creatinine) parameters did not show any significant difference between and within the groups up to 150 minutes following induction. However, blood glucose values were significantly higher (P<0.05) in Group II (30 minutes onwards) and Group III (60 and 90 min) goats as compared to their base values. Animals of Group II also showed significantly higher value at 30 minutes and 60 minutes when compared with the corresponding values of Group III goats. From this study it was concluded that lignocaine and ropivacaine hydrochloride as lumbosacral epidural anaesthetics have no adverse effects on the hemato-biochemical parameters in goats undergoing laparoscopy assisted embryo transfer.
