The present study was conducted on the small intestine of 10 healthy Gaddi goats. The tunica mucosa of the small intestine was composed of lining epithelium, lamina propria with intestinal glands and a thin lamina muscularis. The lamina epithelialis of the small intestine was lined mainly by simple columnar cells. The other cell types present were goblet cells and enterochromaffin cells. Paneth cells were were pyramidal shaped cells present at the base of intestinal glands in all three segments of the small intestine. Enterochromaffin cells were mostly round, oval, pyramidal or spindle-shaped cells found abundantly in duodenum.
