Abstract

The basic problems of small producers are lower scale of operation, non-suitable credit facilities, lack of innovative technologies and communication linkages with the market, lack in exportable produce due to unawareness of technicalities in production practices and huge exploitation by the middlemen. In the 12th five year plan, agricultural credit requirement is doubled at 8 lakh crore against 11th five year plan i.e. 4.75 lakh crore however less than 6 percent of the total institutional credit is available to small and marginal farmers. The present infrastructure facilities are the outcomes of Govt. initiatives and efforts of policy makers which brought revolution and strengthen in agri-market system in India. Notwithstanding there is a need to eliminate the bottlenecks of system. By addressing such issues, many studies were reviewed and conclusions were made that integration of small farmers can be done to strengthen the Agri Value Chain (AVC) through intervention of local organisation, co-operatives, public policies promoting partnership of small farmer and agro-processing units, formation of small farmers association and providing information of market requirements, standards and information of prevalent prices. This is the secondary research focuses on over all institutional support by concern govt. to small land holders and highlights the problems which are being faced by small producers. Study also strives to mitigate the problems by providing the adequate solutions according to the requirement of the small land holders.
