Biological suppression of "Drechslera glycini" causal agent of drechslera blight disease in Soybean

Abstract

Drechslera Blight is a minor disease of soybean but under warm and humid condition it becomes serious especially in the tropics. In the present study, biological suppression of pathogen Drechslera glycini was done both by direct and indirect methods. In the direct method, in vitro evaluation of six isolates of fungal bioagents i.e. Trichoderma harzianum Th-14, Th-82n, Th-89n, Th-75, Th-69 and PBAT-21 and three isolates of bacterial bioagents i.e. Pseudomonas fluorescence PS-F11, PS-F2 and PS-F31 by dual culture technique was carried out. Indirect method constituted the in vitro evaluation of eight soil extracts amendment with organic matter against the test pathogen. The bioagents PBAT-21 (100%) and Ps-11 (85.17%) were found best against the test fungus. Among the eight soil extracts amendment with organic matter, the press mud (541.00 mg) amended soil extract was found effective in inhibiting the dry mycelial growth of the pathogen.
