Abstract

In the present study, seven commercially important fish species namely, Schizothorax esocinus, S. curvifrons, S. niger, S. plagiostomus, Tryplophysa sp., Cyprinus carpio (C.c. var. Communis & C.c. var. specularis) and Ctenopharyngodon idella were recorded from Manasbal lake. Schizothorax species were found to dominate the catches during the winter season (January and February) and contributed 71% to the total catch, while the exotic carps viz., C. carpio and C. idella dominated the catches during the spring season (March and April), and contributed together about 69% to the total catch.
