The present research empirically identified the factors determining access to credit among sugarcane farmers in Kwara State of Nigeria. A total of 105 farmers were sampled through a multi-stage sampling technique and the undated data for 2017/2018 cropping season were collected via administration of structured questionnaires complemented with interview schedule. The collected data were analyzed using the Gini coefficient index, pseudo profit function and logarithm regression model. Despite that sugarcane production is found profitable in the studied area, the farmers had been constrained by the paucity of credit which owes to their idiosyncratic factors. However, the study recommends the need to strengthen the institutional factors in the studied area in order to make credit productive as it is an effective catalyst that will ensure productive agricultural economy in the studied area.
