Abstract

A rare case of babesiosis with clinical complication of chronic renal failure was diagnosed in 3-year-old, male Labrador on basis of clinical picture, serum-biomarkers and ultra-sonography. A holistic therapeutic and clinical management approach was initiated including chemo-therapy, blood transfusion, haemo-dialysis and dietary modifications. Short-term improvement was noticed in bio-chemical markers followed by refractory phase. Although quality of life and longevity was improved, the dog succumbed to multiple organ failure.
