Wular Lake is one of the largest fresh water lakes of South Asia. It plays a significant role in the hydrographic system of Kashmir valley and acts as a huge absorption basin for the annual flood waters. Wular with its extensive surrounding marshes is the natural habitat for wild life. More than 50% of the capture fish production has been reported from the Wular lake. The present study was carried out for a period of twelve months from October 2017 to September 2018 at five different sites of the Lake. The highest CPUE of 931.98 gms/man-hr was recorded in the month of June at Site D (Watlab) which is also an indication of maximum species abundance during summers mainly due to the more availability of food and migration of fishes from lower reaches for breeding and feeding. The lowest CPUE of 237.08 gms/man-hr was recorded in the month of November at Site C (Ashtangoo) which seems due to the less water depth and back migration of fishes during winter months.
