The present research used dated data that spanned from 1981-2019 sourced from both FAO and UNCTAD data bank to determine price volatility of barley among some selected major markets in the world. The data covered producer prices of barley and consumer price indices of countries viz. Australia, Canada, Iran, Turkey and USA. The findings showed that both prices and market arrivals of all the selected markets increased significantly. However, the price increase of Iranian barley was not significant. Furthermore, it was established that the pattern of price volatility was ‘explosive’ in Iranian market while it was ‘persistence’ in all the remaining markets. Thus, except Iranian market, the future trade of barley will be useful in all the remaining markets. Sequel to this, the research advised the Iranian market to devise a mechanism that will absorb/contain innovations- bad or good news that affect the stability of its price, thus making its future trade in the international barley useful.
