This study was contemplated to evaluate an expeditious and minimally invasive technique for surgical management of obstructive urolithiasis in calves; a common disease in Kashmir. A total of 24 male calves with obstructive urolithiasis were divided into two equal groups. All the animals of group A were subjected to the standard paramedian tube cystostomy and those included in group B to Minimally Invasive Inguinal Tube Cystostomy Technique (MIITCT). Duration of surgery, volume of the local anesthetic and length of the suture material needed were lesser in the animals of group A. The median time to resume dribbling and free flow of urine from urethral orifice was also comparatively shorter. No intraoperative and less postoperative complications developed in these calves. From this trial, it is concluded that MIITCT is a better alternative to conventional standard tube cystotomy for management of obstructive urolithiasis in calves.
