Abstract

To disseminate the multinutrient block technology and validate its practical impact on milk production and milk composition of dairy cattle in Kashmir Valley, an experiment was conducted using the blocks as supplements in the feeding of dairy cattle during winter months (December-January; 2021–2022). The multinutrient blocks were fed to the experimental animals in increased amounts during the adaptation period of the first 15 days till consumption of 400 grams of the supplement per animal per day was achieved. Sixteen lactating animals were divided into two groups, control and experimental group. The experimental group was fed multinutrient blocks for 60 days including 15 days of adaptation period. Non significant differences with respect to the milk yield, milk fat, milk protein and SNF were observed. The overall effect of MNB supplementation improved the milk yield and milk composition numerically which otherwise used to drop in harsh winter conditions.
