Abstract

Students play a crucial role in society as they are providers of scientific information. In this study, we aim to evaluate Awareness, Perceptions, and Opinions towards Artificial intelligence (AI) among University students in Kashmir. In the present study 400 students were selected at random via online/offline mode from different higher educational institutes of Kashmir valley during November 2022 to May 2023 using well developed validated questionnaire. The data collected was analysed statistically using appropriate statistical tools. The study revealed that majority of students were aware of AI and were of the opinion that AI would assist professionals working in different fields in becoming better with the widespread use of AI. Statistically, non significant difference in perception of male and female students towards AI was observed (P>0.05). Further, majority of the students had positive perceptions about the concepts, benefits, and implementation of AI. Moreover, most students under study indicated that there is a need for more education and training in the field of AI. Therefore, early exposure to content related to AI in the curriculum is an essential step to help in the wide use of these technologies in the graduates’ future careers.
