The present study was conducted on socio-economic profiles and constraints faced in production of groundnut by cultivators in Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh during 2020-21. The data were elicited from 104 groundnut cultivators in Kadapa district. The study found that, overall, 90.38 percent of respondents were men and 9.62 percent were women. Of these, 62.5 percent were in the middle age group (40- 54), 25.00 percent were in the young age group (less than 39), and 12.50 percent were in the old age group (over 55). Of these, 95.19 percent were married, and 4.81 percent were single. The majority of respondents (70.19%) had a medium-sized family (five to seven members), followed by large families (17.31%) and small families (12.5%). Cultivators faced several constraints throughout production, including the lack of new variety seed material, high labor costs, high initial investment, and pest incidence and diseases. Hence increasing groundnut productivity and production can be achieved by enhancing extension efforts with a sufficient emphasis on automation in groundnut production, lowering the initial investment and controlling pest diseases by utilizing scientific approaches.
