Abstract

This study analyses the staffing patterns in public and private schools in the West Karbi Anglong region of Assam, North-East India. It examines the effectiveness of the recruitment processes and the opportunities for training and development programs in both public and private schools, with a specific focus on Dongkamukam town in the West Karbi Anglong District. The primary objective is to identify the staffing processes employed by different institutions within these schools, as staffing practices are crucial management functions that ensure the effective operation of educational institutions. Data were collected using survey questionnaires administered to teachers from both public and private schools. These data were subsequently analysed using statistical techniques. The research identified notable differences between the two sectors, particularly in terms of the effectiveness of staffing practices and the training and development opportunities available to teachers.
