Abstract

Precast segmental tunnel linings reinforced with steel fibres are being increasingly used in projects world over due to their superior performance, ease of manufacture and durability. In this paper, design concepts involved with the use of steel fibres as reinforcements in precast segmental concrete linings are discussed. This paper further describes the research program carried out with IIT Madras to evaluate the influence of using steel fibres on the structural behaviour of a tunnel lining through a series of real scale bending and compression tests on Precast Steel Fibre Reinforced Concrete (SFRC) segments.
