Uzbekistan has sufficient potential for the development of alternative energy sources; renewable energy sources are one of the key objectives of the development of the electric power industry, the implementation of which will improve the country's energy security. The article analyzes the main directions of development of alternative energy in the world and the possibilities of Uzbekistan for the development of renewable energy sources. The issues of assessing the-potential and possible use of solar, wind, hydro, bio and petrothermal energy in Uzbekistan, including the creation of solar and wind power stations, are considered.
