Studies were undertaken to determine the effect of sequential, simultaneous and single inoculation of Meloidogyne incognita (2,500 J2/kg soil) and Macrophomina phaseolina (5.0 g mycelium including sorghum grains/kg soil) on growth and yield of Solanum melongena cv. Nageena. Highest reduction in shoot-root fresh and dry weights, number of fruits and fruit weight was observed in plants inoculated with nematode and fungus simultaneously. Highest reproduction rate (13.4) of M. incognita and root-knot index (3.5) was observed in plants inoculated with the nematode alone, whereas, highest root colonization (19.2) by fungus was observed in plants inoculated with nematode and fungus simultaneously.
