Abstract

Twelve promising genotypes of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) and a standard check were evaluated at three locations for seed yield. Significant differences were observed among the genotypes, G x E interaction as well as individual environmental effects revealed the presence of variability for the trait under investigation. Significant variance due to G x E (linear) against pooled deviation indicating that the yield performance of the genotypes could be predicated with greater precision across environments. Genotype SKUA-R-91 possessed high mean values for seed yield across the environments and its regression co-efficient (bi) approaching unity with least deviation from regression co-efficient (s2di). This particular genotype can be utilized in hybridization for isolating high yielding and stable segregants. The environmental conditions at E1 were the best for the expression of seed yield.
