The antigenotoxic potential of flavonoids was demonstrated on the genotoxicity induced by hydrocortisone (steroid). Studies were on human lymphocyte culture. Chromosomal aberration and sister chromatid exchange and cell cycle kinetics, with and without S9 mix were taken as end point in in vitro experiments. Four doses viz., 250, 300, 350, and 400 μg/ml were selected, and found that flavonoids were significantly reduced the frequencies of chromosomal aberration, sister chromatid exchanges and enhances RI in vitro. It was also noticed that the antigenotoxic potential of flavonoids showing dose-response relationship.
