Efect of Intercrops on Quantitative and Qualitative Leaf Yield of Mulberry (Morus Alba L.)

A study was undertaken to assess the influence of various intercrops on biometric and yield parameters of mulberry. Among the various intercrops, significantly higher biometric parameters were recorded in clusterbean and cowpea intercropped situations than mulberry without intercrop. Significantly higher N, P and K were registered in mulberry leaf harvested from cowpea and clusterbean intercropped situations. Clusterbean and cowpea enhanced the mulberry leaf production by 13.40 and 11.25 per cent, respectively. Statistically superior yield traits viz., mulberry leaf yield and leaf equivalent yield of intercrops were also registered in clusterbean (5820 and 6736 kg/ ha) intercropped situation.
