Combining ability analysis was carried out in 8x8 parental diallel progenies for grain yield and its components traits in durum wheat. General combining ability and specific combining ability variances were highly significant for all the characters suggested importance of both additive as well as non-additive type of gene action in the inheritance of characters. The magnitude of the non-additive genetic variance was higher than additive variance for all the characters except plant height and length of main spike. The parent BAWAJI was good general combiners for all the characters except plant height. For grain yield per plant, the crosses GW 02–51 x VDW 99–176, GW 1239 x GW 1189 and GW 02–51 x RD 1009 recorded the highest sca effects. The cross GW 1139 x GW 1240 expressed highest sca effects for grain protein and hectoliter weight.
