Twenty two arthropods species were recorded in brinjal ecosystem in western Uttar Pradesh. On the basis of their nature of damage/activity, they have grouped in to sap suckers leafhopper, Amrasca bigutulla bigutulla (Jassidae: Hemiptera), cotton aphid, Aphis gossypii (Aphididae: Hemiptera), whitefly, Bemisia tabaci (Aleyrodidae: Hemiptera), pentatomid bug Aspongopus janus (Pentatomidae: Hemiptera), green bug, Nezara viridula (Pentatomidae: Hemiptera), cow bug, Phenococcus insolitus. Defoliators hadda beetle, Epilachna vigintioctopunctata (Coccinellidae: Coleoptera), Ak grasshopper, Poikelocerus pictus; surface grasshopper Chrotogonus sp. (Acrididae: Orthoptera), leaf roller, Eublema olivacea (Noctuidae: Lepidoptera), leaf webber, Psara bipunctalis (Pyraustidae: Lepidoptera), tobacco caterpillar, Spodoptera litura (Noctuidae: Lepidoptera). Borers; shoot and fruit borer, Leucinodes orbonalis (Pyralidae: Lepidoptera), stem borer, Euzophera particella (Phycitidae: Lepidoptera). Incidental pest; gundhi bug, Leptocorisa acuta (Coreidae: Hemiptera). Natural enemies; coccinellid beetle, Coccinella septempunctata and Cheilomenus sexmaculata (Coccinellidae: Coleoptera), braconid wasp, Bracon spp. (Braconidae: Hymenoptera) and predatory spider, Oxiopes sp. (Salticidae: Arnae). Other arthropods; honey bee, Apis spp. (Apidae: Hymenoptera), black ant, Camponotus sp. (Formicidae: Hymenoptera) are also appeared in the brinjal ecosystem. Abiotic factor i.e., temperature, R.H., sunshine hours, rainfall were played important role in the population fluctuation of these arthropods during 2005–06 and 2006–07.
