Abstract

Red rot disease of sugarcane is one of the most devastating diseases of sugarcane occurring almost all sugarcane growing countries. This disease causes serious yield loss and deterioration in juice quality. India has witnessed numerous red rot epidemics since late 1890. Here basic information about red rot disease as well as about the pathogen is summarized.
