The present investigations were carried out at Students Instructional Farm of Narendra Deva University of Agriculture Technology, Kumarganj, Faizabad and farmers fields during Rabi, 2007–08. Activity of H. armigera started with flowering and continues to harvesting stage of the crop. The peak population were noticed 3 larva/10 plants on Sidhauna village and 2l arva/10 plantsat Pandepurwa, Pithla and Joriumin 10th standard weeks at a minimum temperature of 13.8°C, maximum temperature of 30.1°C, relative humidity 68.0% and no rainfall recorded during crop season. The larval population was positive correlation with minimum temperature, maximum temperature and relative humidity in village of Sidhauna. In case of Padepurwa and Pithla larval population was positively correlated with minimum temperature, relative humidity and negatively correlated with minimum temperature. In Jorium larval populationwas positive correlation with relative humidity and negative correlation with minimum and maximum temperature. Studied for management of H. armigera on chickpea carried out by using five insecticides, in which Spinosad 45 SC @ 90 g a.i./ha was most effective treatment followed by Indoxacarb 14.5 EC @ 50 g a.i/ha and Novaluron 10 EC @ 100 g a.i/ha. Endosulfan 35 EC @ 700 g a.i/ha was least effective on basis of larval reduction and seed yield. The maximum cost: benefit ratio was obtained from Indoxacarb 14.5 EC @ 50 g a.i/ha.
