The increasing demand for food should be met with increased quantity of yield with optimum quality. This task was not accomplished by inorganic fertilizers since they increase the yield by quantity and makes compromises over quality. Inorganic fertilizers also spoil the soil's innate fertility and thereby make the soil unworthy for further cultivations. The increase in quantity and quality of the yield becomes possible only with the use of biofertilizers. In this pot study, Lycopersicon esculentum (tomato) was treated with inorganic fertilizers, biofertilizers and the mixture of both. The combination of biofertilizers (Azospirillum lipoferum, Bacillus megaterium, Frateuria aurantia) with inorganic fertilizers urea, phosphorous and potassium were seemed to increase the yield both quantitatively and qualitatively than the other two. This study convinces the demand for asuitable fertilizer which will improve the fertility of the soil and enhances the nutrient uptake by plants so that the yield will be of good quality and large quantity.
