Sixty rice (Oryza sativa L.) genotypes were evaluated during Kharif, 2010 forthirteen quantitative traits toexamine thenature and magnitude of variability, heritability (broad sense), genetic advance correlation coefficient and path coefficient analysis. Among all traits harvest index exhibited highest estimates of CGV and followed by biological yield, number of panicle per hill and seed yield per hill. Broad sense heritability was highest for plant height and biological yield. Maximum genetic advance and genetic advance as per cent of mean was recorded for plant height and biological yield respectively. Harvest index exhibited high genotypic and phenotypic correlation coefficient with seed yield followed by biological yield and test weight. Path coefficient analysis indicated highest direct effect of harvest index and biological yield on grain yield per hill at phenotypic level.
