Influence of Genotypes on Consumability of the Leaves, Growth and Development of Spodoptera litura (Fab.)

Experiments on influence of genotypes on consumability of the leaves, growth and development of Spodoptera litura (Fab.) were conducted during Kharif, 2008–09 and 2009–10 at College of Agriculture, Gwalior. On the basis of weight and size of larvae, larval and pupal period and growth rate genotype TJM 12 showed antibiosis mechanism of resistant against pest. On the basis of consumption of leaves and consumption index genotypes TJM 15 and TJM 12 showed antifeedant affect against tobacco caterpillar. Whereas genotypes MI 24–91 and MI 181-1 showed highly susceptibility on the basis of consumability of leaves.
