Genotype x environment interaction was studied for grain yield and their component characters in fourteen parents and their 40 hybrids of rice under three environments during Rabi, 2011. The environment + (genotype x environment) was significant for days to 50% flowering, panicle per plant, panicle length (cm) and yield per plant indicating distinct nature of environments and genotype x environment interactions in phenotypic expression. The genotype x environment (linear) interaction component showed significance for all the characters studied. This indicated significant differences among the genotypes for linear response to environments (bi) behavior of the genotypes could be predicted over environments more precisely and G X E interaction was outcome of the linear function of environmental components. Based on stability parameters and over all mean, five hybrids viz., NVSR 178 x VRBN 70, NVSR 178 x VRBN 63, NVSR 178 x VRBN 56, IWT 19347 x VRBN 70 and NAUR 1 x IET 20575 were stable in performance for grain yield. The parents VRBN 70, VRBN 63, VRBN 56, and VRBN 15 can be used as a male parent for developing stable hybrids for all the environments.
