Abstract

In Ayurvedic system of medicine, Bala is an important medicinal plant. In Ayurvedic texts, Bala is from a group of four herbs. In 1930, physicians in India found that Sida cordifolia contains ephedrine. With this knowledge, they recommended Sida cordifolia as a heart stimulant. The other spp. which comes under the name Bala are Sida cordifolia, Sida acuta, Sida rhombifolia
