Role of Nitric Oxide in Male Fertility and Their Herbal Sources

Nitric oxide (molecule of the year, 1992) has significantly associated with various biochemical pathway of male fertility. Different mechanisms suggested its principal role in neurohormonal and parasympathetic activities associated with male fertility. Modern Medicines like VIAGRA^R and LAVITRA are working through their nitric oxide stimulation mechanism, however these synthetic drug are criticized for their various side effects along with their cost. In present reviser paper a systematic research has carried out to find out the available herbal sources for this important neurohormonal factor. In present investigation it was emerged that many herbal drugs especially Chinese medicine are well researched in view of both pharmacologically and clinically for their nitric oxide stimulation effect. In present paper a list of 15 herbal drugs that have nitric oxide promoting effect provided. Research revealed that 9 herbal plants have been screened for their nitrite, nitrate, nitroso and nitrite reductase activity.
