Abstract

The analysis of variance of phenotypic stability indicated highly significant G x E interaction for majority of traits indicating differential response of genotypes to varied environments. The significance of G x E (linear) and pooled deviation for seed yield per plant and its related traits suggested importance of both linear and non-linear components in building up total G x E interaction. The parents GC-4 and V-240 were found average stable with good (high) gca effects for seed yield per plant and its attributes. Among the five hybrids identified as stable over environments for seed yield per plant, the best three among them were DCP-10 x GC-5, DCP-2 x V-240 and GC-3 x GC-5.
