Abstract

Damping-off caused by Pythium aphanidermatum is a major disease of vegetables including chilli throughout the world. The present study attempted to understand the effect of seed treatment with different fungicides and bioagents on damping-off of chilli on germination percentage, incidence of damping off, shoot and root length. Among the chemicals and bioagents Metalaxyl (2g), Mancozeb (3g) and Trichoderma viride (4g), Trichoderma harzianum (4g) found effective in suppressing the disease and in increasing the germination percentage on 30 DAS and shoot-root length at 45 DAS.
