Abstract

Plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) are considered to promote plant growth directly or indirectly. The various species of Pseudomonas especially Pseudomonas putida and Pseudomonas fluorescens are the most important types of plant growth promoting rhizobacteria. Production of IAA is one of the main reasons to promote the growth of the plants. In this piece of research work, thirteen PGPR strains of Pseudomonas bacteria isolated from rhizosphere of Mung bean grown in different location of eastern Uttar Pradesh. IAA production wasshown by almost all Pseudomonas isolates. The indole acetic acid (IAA) was produced by Pseudomonas isolates in the range of 91.81–262.17 μg/ml in the nutrient broth medium. All the Pseudomonas isolates were screened for salt tolerance. Most of the Pseudomonas isolates shown tolerance up to 8% NaCl concentration. Only Ps-7, Ps-10 and Ps-13 isolates were notable to grow even at 7% NaCl concentration.
