Abstract

The present study deals with the acute toxicity of mercuricchloride on the behavior and mortality of Channa punctatus. The LC50 values for 24, 48, 72 and 96 h have been determined. The results indicate that the fish exposed to different concentrations of mercuric chloride exhibit abnormal behavior, hyper-activity, skin irritation and a dose and dose-time dependent mortality rate.
