The extent of associations among grain yield attributes and their direct and indirect effects on the yield of rice were investigated among 189 rice inbred lines. The experiment was carried out at Zonal Agriculture Research Station, Mandya and T laid out in augmented design during Kharif 2011. The correlation analysis indicated that grain yield was significantly associated with all the traitsstudied except kernel L: B ratio indicates the relative utility of all these traits for selection with respect to grain yield. Path coefficient analysis revealed that test weight, spikelet fertility per cent, panicle length, plant height, spikelet's per panicle and panicles per plant had positive direct effect on grain yield. Hence, selection forthis character could bring improvement ingrain yield and yield components.
