Abstract

An investigation was conducted tofind out the effect of TMV infection on growth parameters viz., number of leaves, plant height, leaf length and width and fresh and cured leaf yield were recorded higher in resistant cv. GT 9 compared to susceptible cv. A119. Early inoculation of TMV at 45 DAT and at 60 DAT significantly reduced all growth parameters as compared to late inoculation at 75 DAT and uninoculated control. Similarly, interaction between variety and TMV inoculation periods revealed that early inoculation of TMV at 45 and 60DAT insusceptible cv. A119 significantly reduced all growth parameters as compared to late inoculation and uninoculated control. While, inoculation of TMV at 45, 60, 75DAT and uninoculated control were found at parin cv. GT9.
