The biology of Callosobruchus chinensis was studied under laboratory conditions at 27±2°C temperature and 70±5 per cent relative humidityon garden pea. The egg stage lasted for 3.8 days. The duration of five larval instars was 1.6, 2.0, 3.0, 3.6 and 6.7 days, respectively with an average duration of 16.9 days. The prepupal stage lasted for 1.3 days followed by pupal stage of 3.2 days. The female and male longevity was 9.8 and 11.1 days, respectively. The morphometrics of different stages were also recorded. The widths of head capsule of the I, II, III, IV, V larval instars was 0.15, 0.19, 0.27, 0.38 and 0.56 mm, respectively.
